Medlin was born in 1624. She married Samuel Dayton in South Hampton, New York, on 12 September 1654. Medlin died in 1666.
Tradition has it that Medlin was full blooded Montuk Indian. Some references refer to her as Wilhelmina, possibly a Christian name given her by the Dutch settlers who predominated the area. There is one court reference to Samuel (her husband) being fined in a local court because his wife Medlin "defamed another local woman" There is another reference where she deeded some land to the County.
