     Hartsell was born on 22 June 1909 at Carthage,, Leake county,, Mississippi. He was the son of George William Edwards and Laura Coleman. He married Fannie Agnes Cooper on 2 July 1932. Hartsell died on 8 September 1992 at Pensacola,, Escambia county,, Florida, at age 83. His body was interred on 11 September 1992 at Pensacola,, Escambia county,, Florida, at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
     His was always known as Clyde.
